I am looking to buy my first fretless and I like re look and feel of the ibanez but when I tried it there was no amp around so I isn't get much in the way of sound, but I want to know if the sound is good and is it a reliable bass to own

I'm Looking for a project to keep me busy because i have a lot of free time on my hands. So i decided to try my hand at building an electric bass guitar. Since putting in frets requires a ton of precision, i decided to go for a fretless bass. Do you think it's worth building? is it really that hard to play?
